It depends from state to state, from religion to religion, so and so. A traditional wedding of tamil "hindu" family(state tamilnadu) have tiffins like idly, vadai, pongal, sambar, chutney, a sweet and coffee as morning breakfast. For lunch they usually serve in a plaintain leaf with atlest 3 kinds of vegetable variety can be kootu, poriyal or aviyal, rice, sambar, rasam, yogurt, pappad, vadai, pickle, any sweet, ends up with dessert called payasam. this is traditional "tamilnadu" wedding menu. But a "Maharastra" (another state in india) would differ completly. Likewise for all other states.

Hii
It depends what state and religion u want to research on.Karnataka state is in South India.Bangalore(city i am from)is the capital city.Language spoken in Karnataka is Kannada. There are different spoken languages but each state has its own.Hindi is the national language.traditions vary with respect to their religions.Castes are also different.
India is very rich in culture and tradition.History in every nook and corner of the country. There are various festivals celebrated all through the year.To name a few... sankranthi(pongal)to celebrate the harvest season.
shivarathri (Lord Shiva-one of the most powerful God's).Ugadi (hindu new year).Varamahalakshmi (goddess of wealth and health).Gowri and Ganesha (mother and son give devotees blessings).
Navarathri and Deepavali festivals to celebrate the end of Rakshashas(evil) and triumph of the good.Deepavali is celebrated by bursting crackers(fire works)and many more...
Sarees and salwars are the traditional attires worn by women.Men wear shirts and pants.Dhothis are worn for festivals and ceremonies.Food is delicious.Finger licking yummy snacks ,main courses and desserts...its an ocean again in the culinary department.
so if u want to know about Indian culture and traditions u have to explore by each state to get the overview of India as the country of diverse mixes. And i have to tell here I am Proud to be an Indian.

What’s the meaning of the ceremony done during a Hindu (Gujarati) babyshower?
What does each thing represent?

Hi,
I wish to discuss this w/ every other Indian....if ne of u've noticed, y is it tat our Indian culture is now declining among most of the ppl. in India? How come our ppl.- even the women- r losing out on their moral values?? Of course, the most common reason I hear is the influence of Western way of life but still, I don't think Westerners r entirely to blame 4 this......afterall we r not being ruled by them or nething, so how can we blame them 4 this cultural perversity in our country??
