Prepare cake batter as normally done. Place the batter in a microwave proof 'pyrex' type glass dish. Cover it with cling wrap foil only. Do not cover with the glass lid/aluminium foil. Microwave on 'high' for 8 minutes if it is a 900 watts oven. Allow the cooked cake to cool down within the oven for about five minutes. Serve

what is a cling wrap foil.
I tried to bake a cake but covered with glass lid. My cake was a rock cake sadly.
by cling wrap foil do you mean the thin transperent foil placed on dishes before serving them or something else.
I shall be gratefull if you could give me enough inputs to bake a nice spongy cake

hi divya - ur right, cling wrap is the transparent plastic kind of paper that they cover food with, if you dont have cling wrap also its ok, just pour the batter in the dish and cook on full power for about 4 mins, let it cool for a min. and u will have a great sponge cake ready. try this recipe. powder 100 gms sugar and mix well with 100 gms soft butter till soft and fluffy. mix 1 level tsp baking soda well in 100-125 gms maida. add 1-1 1/2 tsp cocoa powder (depending on how chocolatey u want it) and some walnuts (if you like) - mix well with the butter sugar mixture. add about 3 tbsp warm milk. mix well and put in a greased glass bowl and cook on high power for 4 mins. it will turn out well. try it and let me know. all the best!!!

hi bhuvana, soft butter means butter kept at room temp. leave it out for a few hours and it gets soft and spreadable. if its frozen hard put it in the microwave for say 10-15 secs. on high and use it.

Hi,
how do we get good results with the microwave oven set in convection mode? Are there any adjustments required in the cooking time etc as compared to a regular oven?
I tried making brownies using the convection setting, but was not very satisfied with the results...
Tx in advance!
