I'm doing some research on the similarities and differences between Carnatic and Hindustani Talas. Can anyone tell me which books to consult and where to find this info on the web?

There is a book titled "Indian Music-History & Structure " by Dr.Emmie Te Nijenhuis. It has an extensive chapter on rhythms of Karnatak and Hindustani music. The book is out of print for several years now. It was published in 1974 by E.J.Brill of Netherlands and may be available at some libraries. If you are unable to find it post a message here and I will try to mail you copies.

THere is also a book by the carnatic violinist L Subramaniam that gives comparsion between Carnatic and Hindustani. I think it is called Polyphony.
Something like that.
